A Royal Invitation
This piece is not only great for children, but adults love it too. The notes used in A Royal Invitation make it sound like modern movie music and is appealing even to teens. Plus the fact that it sound both big and beautiful, uses the entire piano, and uses the pedal as well, makes the piece popular for almost anyone.
Here’s what teacher Jeananne says:
I am using The Bold Escape, Amazing Grace, and Royal Invitation with my beginning college students! Mostly young men, and they LOVE them.
The Bold Escape
Slightly easier than A Royal Invitation, The Bold Escape features students in the C position for the main part of the piece. The introduction, interlude and ending uses the entire piano and can easily be taught by rote. Teaching this part by rote offers a great opportunity work on good technique for a big, full sound.

Melissa Willis –
The Bold Escape has my beginners feeling like they are concert pianists. What a genius piece of music!

“The Bold Escape” has engaged so many different students in my studio: they love it! It’s helped perk up beginners, transfer students, student struggling in not reading, intervallic students, and advancing students who just needed an easy sight-reading piece or a bit of fun added to their week.
Julie Atkins –
I introduced “A Royal Invitation” to a 7-year-old who loves to play the piano. He was captivated! All he wanted to do was keep playing it!

I had several students learn The Bold Escape last year and they all loved it! One played it at a school talent show and it was played at every recital. It is a sure hit, and easy enough for all beginners.

I chose several Wendy Stevens pieces from ComposeCreate.com to offer to my students for our next recital. I wanted to give my “Little’s” and my students who work hard but struggle, some pieces to play that will help make them sound strong, confident, and be exciting at recital. “The Bold Escape” I gave to a young student (7) who started piano last Fall. The patterns were easy for him to pick up and he LOVES using the pedal! I am sure this will be a hit at recital!

My students are really having fun with the pieces I’ve downloaded from your website (including these two). I give you 5 stars! Thank you for all your fun creativity!

I am excited to be teaching The Bold Escape and A Royal Invitation to my students. The octave changes make the pieces grand and impressive. The students are motivated to practice, and that makes for very happy parents and a very happy piano teacher! Thank you, Wendy Stevens, for your fine, musical, creative labor!

I have a young, first year student with a syndrome that has contributed to him having disproportionately long fingers. “The Bold Escape” provided him with an accessible piece with its open fifths and easy-to-reach intervalic patterns. It makes the student sound more advanced than they are and that has given him so much confidence!
