New Easy Hymn Arrangement

One of my favorite hymns is Be Thou My Vision. I love both the melody and the words in this very old Irish tune.

Yet, if you’ve ever tried to arrange this in a beautiful way for a beginning student, you know that it’s a challenge. The melody spans a 9th and you need both hands to play it, leaving not very many fingers able to provide harmony in an easy way.

But I’m excited to release this new elementary arrangement of Be Thou My Vision because it’s easy to play and is mature sounding for all ages of students, event adults!

How difficult is this arrangement?

Easy Be Thou My Vision piano arrangement by Wendy Stevens - easy hymn arrangement for piano

There are position changes in this arrangement, but they are very easy to find and clearly marked with fingering in the music. The introduction and the ending have a few eighth notes, but they are easy patterns that can be taught by rote.

The beginning melody (m. 9) is accompanied by one deep sounding 5th in the lower register, but it’s easy to find and only occurs in that measure (and at the end).

Is there pedal?

Yes, there is pedal. But there are only 4 pedal changes in the entire piece. Of course, students may opt to change the pedal more, but these 4 marked pedal changes will provide a full sound.

Is this a good teaching piece?

This arrangement is equipped with all the necessary parts you need in a teaching piece. Slurs are clearly marked, pedal is marked all through the piece, and fingering is in all position changes and less predictable passages. Dynamics are indicated to help the student perform musically.

Are there lyrics? Bonuses?

We like to give you much more than you can get from most traditional publishers, so I think you’ll love that your purchase comes with:

  • One score without lyrics
  • One score with lyrics
  • One mp3 performance track to help your students learn

Studio license – If you purchase the studio license, you can make prints of both of this piece for yourself AND any students you directly teach for your entire lifetime of teaching!
